Shaving your head bald can be a fashion statement or it can be simply a result of a receding hairline. Anyway, wearing a bald head has been around, and it’s always been popular.
If you have a receding hairline, it’s always better to shave it all because it looks neater and it can give you a new, appealing look. Look at Jason Statham for example – he’s rocking that haircut for a long time now!
In our opinion, it’s never a bad idea to shave your head. During the lockdown, many people got the same idea as well!
Maybe you just wanted to see how you will look with a short cut, or you were just bored – but the hairstyle stuck. There is the neverending problem, though – how often you have to do it.
To keep your head close-shaven, you have to shave it once a week or even more often – and it’s kind of annoying. You got the idea to wax the head for more permanent results.
But, can you wax your head even? To find out, continue reading the article!
Can You Wax Your Head?
Waxing may seem like a great way to get that perfectly bald head. But, is it truly a good idea?
Yes, you can wax your head! Waxing can be a great way to remove your hair and to get super-smooth results.
Shaving your head every day can be a hassle, we know that. However, do note that out of all the methods of hair removal, waxing is the most drastic way.
And one more thing – waxing can be painful, and it can hurt a lot. There is the benefit, though – the results are more long-lasting, meaning you have more time between waxing.
Waxing keeps the head smooth for longer, but do keep in mind the pain. It can be too painful for your liking, and you could go back to shaving in no time.
Waxing Your Head – Methods
There are two good methods of waxing – and they both work fine. You can use regular wax or sugar paste, and it’s usually decided according to your preference.
When using regular wax, it’s quite simple and easy to do. All you need is wax, a wax heater, a paddle to apply the wax and that’s about it! If you don’t have a wax heater, you can heat it on the stove or the microwave.
What we recommend is that you let your hair grow at least an ⅛” or ¼” to be able to wax it off. Take a shower beforehand to open up your pores and to make the whole waxing experience a little less painful.
Use a paddle to apply a thin coat of wax on the hair, in the way in which the hair is growing. Wait a few seconds for the wax to dry and then pull it off with your fingers.
Using a sugar paste is not sweet but it can be rather convenient and easy, too! However, making the sugar paste at home can be a little difficult.
We recommend going to a salon for this particular method unless you’re confident that you can do it on your own. The sugar paste is made from sugar mixed with lemon juice and honey. The paste is sticky and it should be warm when applied – compared to wax, which should be hot!
Sugar waxing is performed by therapists and specialists. On the other hand, you can try it out a few times to try to get it done on your own! When applying the paste, you should apply it opposite of how the hair is growing.
The paste will mold to your skin and attach it to your hair. Once you pull it off, it will pull the hairs out from underneath your skin. People usually say that sugaring is less painful, so it’s worth trying it out!
The advantage of sugaring is that it leads to ingrown hairs less often than regular wax. It also can’t rip your skin, which can happen with wax as well. To soothe your skin, you can even apply some toner or after-shave!
How Often Should You Shave Your Head?
How often should you shave your head depends on the look you’re trying to get. If you want to leave a little stubble, you can get away with a shave once a week or once every ten days. Can you shave after a spray-on tan? Read our article to find out.
If you want to keep your head closely shaven and smooth all the time, you should shave it more often than that. Some people even shave their head once a day to keep it perfectly smooth!
If you want to keep a little stubble and you’re not quite sure how you want to wear your hair yet, leave it alone for a few days at a time. You can even use clippers to keep that stubble clean and neat.
Do note that if you want to keep your stubble at the same length all the time, you need to use some clippers once a day. Once you’re determined to keep your hair at the same length, you will see how fast it grows!
All in all, it’s all a question of some trial and error. Try to shave it as often, then once a week to see what look you prefer. Those changes are minimal, but it all comes down to your personal preference.
Let’s see how often men visit the barbershop annually:
Number of trips | Percentage of men |
0 | 3% |
1 | 2% |
2 | 5% |
3 | 3% |
4 | 7% |
5 | 10% |
6 | 15% |
7 | 27% |
More than 7 times a year | 2% |

So, let’s get on it!
Using Hair Removal Cream To Keep Your Head Bald
Surely, you’ve heard of hair removal creams like Nair – and you heard that people use it for removing hair off their body. What probably never occurred to you is that you can use it to remove hair from your head!
You can use Nair to remove hair from your head and to keep that head perfectly smooth! It’s quite easy, too – even if you’re trying it for the first time.
Just follow the instructions on the box word to word and you’ll get success every time. Rinse it off according to the instructions and be careful not to leave it on too long. While you rinse it off, your hair should be rinsed off as well.
Using Nair or similar products can have certain pros compared to shaving. Remember those shaving bumps or razor burn? That simply doesn’t happen with hair removal creams!
The only side effect of the hair removal cream? The smell. Hair removal creams smell a lot, but luckily, you only have to smell it for a few minutes.
Also, if you have sensitive skin, make sure to choose a cream that’s suitable for that skin type to avoid irritations. Now, there are even hair removal creams made specifically for removing hair from your head, so you can try that, as well.
