The Ped Egg promised that a pedicure can be done in just a few minutes. What’s more, it doesn’t create a mess – it has a small container inside that collects the dead skin. When you’re done, you can just rinse it out in the sink and wash it out.
The Ped Egg does look like an egg – it opens up to reveal a grater like egg-half. You are supposed to glide the grater over your calluses and blisters to soften it up.
Many products that were heavily advertised didn’t live up to the unnecessary hype. That wasn’t the case with the Ped Egg, since it exists until this very day.
People who use Ped Egg state that it’s an irreplaceable part of their beauty routine. In times like these, during the lockdown, we have to take some things into our own hands.
Some things can be rather difficult, like making your own set of acrylic nails, but some things are possible to do on your own. Using a Ped Egg to do a pedicure is one of them!
How To Use Ped Egg?
Before you start using the Ped Egg, we strongly advise you to read the instructions first. Using a pedicure tool wrong can harm your feet. Walking on a harmed foot can be just unpleasant or even painful!
That’s something to keep in mind if you spend a good amount of your working hours on your feet. So, read the instructions carefully before you start.
One of the most important things to remember is that the Ped Egg should be used exclusively on dry feet. Never use the Ped Egg on wet feet!
This one is a must. When you’re working dry calluses, they are rather easy to remove with this tool. Using the Egg on wet feet may feel like you’re scratching off more than dead skin off your feet. It will feel that way because it’s true!
You can make open wounds if you use it on wet feet, so please, be careful. Don’t use the Ped Egg right after a shower either, even if you dried your feet – your skin has softened from water and soap.
If you ask us – your best best is using the Ped Egg before a shower. You can clean up your first easier this way, and it’s almost guaranteed that you won’t harm yourself.
When you start using the Ped Egg on your heel, start slowly and start small. Use light to medium pressure – don’t rub vigorously in any way. After a minute or so, stop to feel your heel.
If you feel it’s softer, you can move on to the next section. Checking the progress can be especially useful if you’re new in the pedicure world. It makes sure that you don’t overdo your feet.
If you overdo, you may remove live cells from your feet and make the skin on your soles very thin. That can result in your skin breaking and even lead to an infection. That’s why you must be rather careful when removing dead skin.
Furthermore, don’t work each foot for longer than 10 minutes, even if you have large calluses. It’s better to leave it after the 10-minute mark and pick up tomorrow. You will start rubbing too hard if you do it for too long, and you can hurt yourself. It’s better to call it a day after a while than it is to walk on harmed feet.
One more thing:
The container under the “grater” will fill up with your dead skin. It will look like whitish powder and it can make you a bit queasy. If you’re sensitive, keep this in mind when buying a Ped Egg – it might not be the best investment for you, then. It might be best to stick to good old pumice stones if that’s the case.
Can A Ped Egg Replace A Regular Pedicure?
We already talked about the Ped Egg and its efficacy. Sure, it can be an easy way to remove the hardened, dead skin – there is no doubt about it. The Ped Egg deserves all the attention it gets – we love it!
On the other hand, can a ped egg replace a regular pedicure?
Well, no. The Ped Egg will remove the hard skin and make your feet feel so much softer than they were. However, it can take a lot of time to get the desired result if you struggle with calluses regularly.
You know that you shouldn’t work on your foot for too long as it can wound your feet. So, it might not be the best product for a pedicure ever, but it’s pretty great to keep your feet looking good in-between appointments.
Furthermore, if you don’t struggle with very hard calluses, but just dry heels, the Ped Egg will work for you, be sure of that.
While it does a great job, it doesn’t offer the feeling of perfect feet. It cannot replace the softness your pedicure tech will achieve in one appointment, but we find it works rather well!
